Winton Woods Students Help Out Haiti

by Gina Burnett last modified Monday, February 01

More than 100 cases of water and a check for $1702 were sent from Winton Woods High School to Matthew 25 Ministries as part of the school’s Water for Haiti fundraising project. “The students and staff of the Winton Woods City School District realize how great the need is for the victims of this disaster,” said Principal Dr. Terri Holden.

“One teacher at the high school matched everything her students brought in,” said Secretary Carol Miller. “Winton Woods Elementary and Winton Woods Intermediate Schools also participated in the project and send in checks totaling almost $400 to include with the money the high school raised.”

At Winton Woods Primary South, students and staff members are participating in Hands for Haiti, a fundraiser for a school that was located five miles north of the earthquake’s epicenter. “For a donation of $1.00, students put their name on a paper hand that goes on our bulletin board and around the halls of the school,” said Principal Linda Giuliano. “A donation of $5.00 or more earns a gold hand.” Giuliano said the school they are helping is sponsored by Life and Hope and was devastated by the earthquake.
