Board Members

Board Members are elected at large for four year terms. A member may serve unlimited consecutive terms. Board members are elected according to a schedule that staggers their term expiration dates. Officers serve a term of one year, and may be relected.

President - Jack lee

Jack Lee

Jack Lee, a member of the Winton Woods Board of Education since 1996, was re-elected as the Board’s President at the January 5, 2010 organizational meeting.

Jack has also served as the Board’s Vice President and as the representative to the Forest Park City Economic Development Commission and the Hamilton County Tax Incentive Review Council.  Jack is a graduate of Miami University with a degree in Business Education.  He is employed as the U.S. Midwest Regional Manager for ASM Modular Systems, of Charleston, South Carolina. Jack and his wife, Holly, reside in Greenhills and have two children who graduated from Winton Woods High School.

“Winton Woods City Schools is unique in the makeup of the three different communities it serves and the challenges that we face. However, our educational responsibilities do not stop at the edge of our neighborhoods, city or state.  It has become increasingly more important, as our world has changed, to prepare our students to be a success in this evolving environment, but accomplished in an accountable manner to the benefit of all taxpayers within our district.”

Vice President - Tim Cleary

Tim Cleary

Tim Cleary, who has been a Board member since 2004, is serving his second term as Board Vice-President. Tim is President and CEO of TMI Electrical Contractors. He attended the University of Cincinnati and received his MBA from Northern Kentucky University. Tim and his wife, Teresa, reside in Springfield Township and have two sons who graduated from Winton Woods High School and a daughter who currently attends there.

“As a School Board member, I believe it is important for me to work closely with educators, parents, students, community members, the business community, and government officials to improve our schools. “It is my goal to work with each of my fellow Board members to continue to raise standards based on valid measures of knowledge, skills, and competency. Education is the vehicle that helps our children to succeed. As public servants, it’s our job to steer that vehicle to the best of our ability.” 

Cindy Emmert

Cindy Emmert

Cindy S. Emmert has been a member of the Winton Woods Board of Education since 1998.  She served the Board as Vice-President from 2003-2004 and President from 2005-2006.  For the past eight years she has served on the Great Oaks Board of Directors as the liaison from Winton Woods.

Cindy is a life long resident of the district, graduating from Greenhills High School in 1972. She earned a degree in Horticulture at The Ohio State University and came home to work in the family business, W.H. Shroyer Nursery and Greenhouses.   She has been married to Ed Emmert (GHS 1968) for over 30 years, and they have one daughter who graduated from Winton Woods High School in 1998.

“As a member of the Winton Woods Board of Education, it is my privilege and responsibility to ensure that each Winton Woods student is provided with an opportunity to receive an education that instills in them a passion for learning and a means to accomplish their dreams.  I work with the other Board members, the superintendent, and treasurer to maximize the benefits of each tax dollar spent to help our students reach their goals.”

Dr. Brandon H. Wiers

Brandon Wiers for WebsiteDr. Brandon Wiers was elected to the Winton Woods Board of Education in November 2009. Dr. Wiers served for nine years as a Forest Park City Council member—the last six as mayor. Dr. Wiers earned his Ph. D. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota. He and his wife, Patti, have three children. Their children, along with two others for whom the Wiers were guardians, graduated from district schools.

John Pennycuff

John Pennycuff

John Pennycuff has been a member of the Winton Woods Board since 1990. He has served the Board as President, Vice-President, and member. He is currently the President of the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA). John is also the Board’s legislative liaison and works with the Ohio and National School Boards Associations in seeking improvements in laws that govern schools. John is a 32-year resident of the district. He earned a degree in physics from Berea College (Kentucky) and then served six years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force before joining Procter & Gamble, from which he is retired. John and his wife, Mary, have been married for 45 years. Their two children, Laura and Kevin, attended schools in the Winton Woods District from kindergarten through high school graduation.

“I believe passionately in the role of public education in supporting our democratic ideals. I am committed to strengthening the educational experiences of our youth and this includes advocating for stable funding that is less dependent on residential property tax. It is a privilege to work with other dedicated board members and professional staff in listening to the expectations of the community and planning to assure that our programs and services prepare our students for rewarding lives.”
